Trauma Release Exercises
TRE® was developed by Dr. David Berceli PhD and stands for Trauma and Tension Release Exercises. Practicing TRE® establishes a sense of safety in our bodies and therfore our lives. In this practice, we can release stored trauma patterns and stress from our systems.
We will practice exercises that activate a natural, in-built, tremor mechanism. In the first session, you may experience something like vibrations in the legs and hips, or you may experience a big shake throughout the whole body. TRE® allows the body to use a natural tool for releasing stored up tension, trauma patterns, and stress. In our in person sessions I will use consensual, intuitive touch.
I am aware and informed of the various traumas involved in being part of a marginalised group. I am not interested in over-identification with trauma or self-victimisation, however, I will not bypass the very real and impactful imbalances that exist as a result of gender and/or race related, cultural and epigenetic trauma. Trauma is complex and unique. Whilst we may discuss these issues, TRE is an embodiment practice, and not a talk therapy.

Most people spend chronic periods of time dissociating, or in highly stressful states of fight/flight. Staying in these states can lead to mental and physical imbalances. TRE® regulates the nervous system, creating new space in the body and energy field, relaxing and strengthening our muscles, and energising our whole system.

FAQs
Many people have trauma held within their bodies and we do not need to know the original events that caused it in order to release it. Also, TRE® is a practice that helps reduce daily or chronic stress and tension that is stored in the body.
Yes. TRE® combines very well with other practices and therapies. If you are booking a session, I will ask you about the other practices/therapeutic modalities you are using.
The benefits of a package are many and this is my preferred way of working. It allows us to build safety and intimacy. If we are working with TRE, the most effective way to practice is regularly and over time.
An in person session of TRE® will include hands-on touch, provided the client has clearly consented to this. In an in person astrology/human design session, there is less difference. In a Creative Projects session, we may use TRE® and therefore touch. We may also use pens, paper, and other physical tools.
Yes. However, I will assess whether a TRE® practitioner who is also trained in psychotherapy may be a better fit. TRE® was developed to treat PTSD, so it is effective. I am qualified and trained with Steve Haines and Luke Mullen at The Body College.
